Mentally Dental

Word Count:  100

Larry propped his chin in his hand and stared out at the cold Alaskan view. Every day he came to his office, and every day was the same: Clean probes and scalers; arrange and rearrange; listen to the noises associated with the ferry.  He’d abandoned the idea of waiting long ago, no-one seemed to need a dentist in this town, but still he squandered time here.

Lately, Larry had begun messing with his OCD; timing how long he could go with that one particular probe askew in the tray.

Not bad, he thought as the agitation peaked, 30 seconds today.
